Diversity as a Parameter
London
2025
Who gets to code?
Who gets to be part of the code?
This project treats diversity as a parameter. When set to true, the algorithm assembles a collage with faces of women from the Global South. Faces from the ones who haven't had a voice in shaping technology. When set to false, a black opacity covers the collage, making it impossible to distinguish the faces.
The red collage has the diversity parameter set to true.
The blue collage has the diversity parameter set to false.
A reminder that representation is never automatic.
It is a decision.
A code poem accompanies the faces, bringing into the visuals fragments of the code and the choices that shape it.
